Janet Jackson was growing up in the shadow of her famous brothers who made a career in the famous Jackson 5. and her brother Michael Jackson who did not only had a great career in the Jackson 5 but also had a great solo career. Janet jackson stayed in Gary Indiana until 1969 with her mother and other siblings.

As a child Janet wanted to work in McDonald’s drive-thru window. Before Janet Jackson became a singer she wanted to become a horse racing jockey or entertainment lawyer.

 

 

1973 Janet Jackson performed at the Las Vegas Strip at the MGM casino when she was just seven years old.

Janet Jackson began acting in the variety show “the Jacksons” in 1976.

1977 Janet Jackson got the part of Penny Gordon on “Good Times”

February 4, 1986,  Janet Jackson released her third studio album “”Control”.  Control hit No. 1 on the Billboards 200 albums chart and No. 1 on the Top R&B /Hip-Hop  Albums Chart.

In 1987 her single “Nasty” won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography.

September 19, 1989 Janet released her fourth studio album  Rhythm Nation 1814 .

1990 Janet jackson won eight Billboard Music awards.

In 1994 “If” won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video.

In 1996 Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson won a Grammy Award for Best Music Video fort he video “Scream”.

In 1999 Janet Jackson was listed in Guiness World records for Most Successful Siblings in History.

In 2001 Janet Jackson was declared MTV’s inaugural icon and she receieved a tribute, MTV Icon: Janet Jackson.

In 2016 janet postponed her world tour behind her latest album Unbreakable to start a family with her husband Wissam al Mana

Janet Jackson was 50 years old when she gave birth to her first and only child Eissa Al Mana (January 3, 2017).
